Staten Island, N.Y. - Matt Devins capped a five-run fifth inning with a two-run home run to give the Stony Brook baseball team a 10-0 lead, as the Seawolves held on for a 11-7 victory over Wagner on Thursday afternoon. With the win Stony Brook improved to 14-18, while Wagner fell to 10-22.

The Seawolves jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four innings of play and broke the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs to take a commanding 10-0 lead. Matt Devins capped the inning with a two-run blast, his second home run of the season.

Wagner mounted a comeback in the eighth, scoring six runs to pull within four, but Nick Abel came in to shut the door and preserve the Stony Brook victory.

Brian Murtagh tossed five innings of two-hit ball to pick up the win for Stony Brook, his first as a Seawolf. Devins went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead a Seawolves offense that pounded out eleven hits on the day. Chris Sipp, Will Brumfield and Dave Mischo tallied two hits apiece, while Sipp added three RBI.

The Seawolves are back in action this weekend when they travel to Northeastern for a three-game America East series. First pitch is slated for noon on Saturday.
