Thibodeaux, La. - Junior James Campbell (Bridgeport, Conn.) allowed just one run on two hits in 7.0 innings as the Stony Brook baseball team completed a perfect opening weekend at the Colonel Round Robin with a 4-1 victory over host Nicholls State on Sunday afternoon.

Campbell struck out a career-high seven and shut the Colonels over his final 6.0 innings over allowing a run in the first. Sophomore Frankie Vanderka (Levittown, N.Y.) pitched a perfect eight and ninth to pick up the save.

The Seawolves (4-0) piled up 12 hits including two each from senior Pat Cantwell (West Islip, N.Y.), juniors Travis Jankowski (Lancaster, Pa.) and Maxx Tissenbaum (Toronto, Ontario) and freshman Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.).

Freshman Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ontario) added a hit and two RBI.

Nicholls scored a run without the benefit of a hit in the first to take a 1-0 lead but the Seawolves got an unearned run in the second to tie it and then scored twice in the fourth highlighted by a run-scoring single from Peragine to go ahead 3-1.

SBU tacked on a run in the fifth as Jankowski reached on a bunt single to lead off, stole second and before moving to third on a bunt single from Cantwell. He then came home to score on a sacrifice fly from junior William Carmona (Hempstead, N.Y.).

The Colonels never put a runner past second the rest of the way as Campbell and Vanderka combined to retire the final 10 batters of the game.

Stony Brook looks to keeps its perfect record intact next weekend, traveling for a three-game set at East Carolina.
