Gerry Sputo enters his 13th season as an assistant coach at Stony Brook, his tenth as Matt Senk's top assistant and his fourth as the program's first full-time assistant.

Sputo is involved in all aspects of the Seawolves baseball program while serving as the team's first base and hitting coach. During his tenure at Stony Brook, the Seawolves have posted a cumulative .300 batting average, including tha nation's highest average (.347) and slugging percentage (.580) in 2000. He also takes the lead role in all SB recruiting efforts, landing countless all-conference players, including 10 who have gone on to play in the professional ranks.

A resident of Valley Stream, N.Y., Sputo is a graduate of St. Agnes Cathedral High School where he lettered in baseball. He received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Siena College in 1985 and joined the Stony Brook staff after working for seven years on Wall Street.
