Stony Brook's men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Central Connecticut Mini Meet at Stanley Park on Friday afternoon. The men's team finished in a tie for third and the women's team placed fourth.

"Tyler had a good run, and Lorraine opened her season with a solid performance," head coach Andy Ronan said. 

Freshman Tyler Frigge (Suffern, N.Y.) led the men's squad with a 13th-place finish (15:47). Sophomore Samuel Kimmey (Clifton Park, N.Y.) placed 16th (16:00), senior Mark Appledorf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) took 21st (16:07), senior Shamell Forbes (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) came in 25th (16:19) and freshman Matt Zampariello (East Patchogue, N.Y.) took 26th.

The women's team was led by junior Lorraine McCarthy (Waterford, Ireland), who finished 12th (10:44). Sophomore Robin Lynn (Glen Gardner, N.J.) placed 20th (10:57) and senior Jillian Fauser (Northport, N.Y.) took 21st (11:05).

Next up for both squads is the America East Championships on October 29 in Albany.
