Men's cross country, track and field receive academic recognition


The Stony Brook men's cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field programs have earned praise for their academic achievements by placing in the top 10 percent in NCAA Division I for multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR), the NCAA announced Wednesday.

Speakman selected COSIDA Academic All-District


After pacing the Stony Brook men's cross country team to its historic first conference title in program history in 2012 while also excelling in the classroom, Eric Speakman has been named to the 2012-13 COSIDA Academic All-District Cross Country/Track and Field squad.

Burne races in NCAA Quarterfinals


Junior Olivia Burne clocked in at 4:44.81 in the women's 1500 meter run in the quarterfinals of the NCAA East Regionals Saturday at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Burne advances at NCAA Regionals


Just hours after being honored for her work on the track and in the classroom with an America East All-Academic nod, junior Olivia Burne inched closer to a trip to the NCAA Championships. She advanced in her heat in the women's 1500-meter and will compete in the quarterfinal race Saturday.

Burne qualifies for women's track NCAA East Regionals


Junior Olivia Burne of the Stony Brook women's track team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships in the women's 1500-meter event. Competition is slated for May 23 and 25 at North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro, N.C.
