Track & Field competes at Bill Ward Invitational

South Huntington, N.Y. - Stony Brook's men's track and field team set two school records and won two events at the Bill Ward Invitational at St. Anthony's High School on Thursday night.
The 4x400 relay and Shamell Forbes (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.), who captured the 800, were victorious.
"It was great to see what started last weekend continue tonight," head coach Andy Ronan said. Two school records and two wins make for a good night at any track meet. Lamar and Terry are certainly going to be fun to watch as the season continues after the holiday break."
Martin, who jumped 7.24m, broke the record after freshman Lamar Hayes (Voorhees, N.J.) recorded a 7.12 earlier in the night, which was a school record. Both marks are inside the IC4A qualifying standard.
deQuillfeldt ran a 7.03 in the third heat of the 60m. He finished fifth in the finals (7.21).
Senior Christina Johnson (Elmont, N.Y.) tied her own school record with a 9.37 in the 60m hurdles.
Freshman Stephan Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) jumped 6.75 in the long jump, and freshman Tom Harty (Commack, N.Y.) had a throw of 14.65 in the weight throw.
