New Haven, Conn. - In a final tune-up before the America East Championships, Stony Brook's track & field teams competed in the Yale Springtime Invitational Sunday afternoon.

On the men's side, junior Stephen Reilly (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) ran an 11.34 and freshman Stephan Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) posted an 11.65 in the 100. Jones also ran a 23.05 and Reilly recorded a 23.62 in the 200.

Sophomore Matt Granata (Levittown, N.Y.) won his heat of the 400 (50.46), finishing second overall.

Freshman Chris Sauer (Sparta, N.J.) took first in his heat of the 800 (2:05.72).

Senior Shamell Forbes (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) placed second in heat two of the 1,500 (4:05.63).

The 4x400 relay, made up of junior Michael Lopizzo (Northport, N.Y.), sophomore James Snak (Smithtown, N.Y.), sophomore Sam Kimmey (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Sauer, won in a time of 3:33.45 in heat two.

On the women's side, senior Mary O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) finished second in the 400 (58.89). Senior Justine Noel (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior Sandeep Dhillon (Flushing, N.Y.) each won their heats in 1:01.56 and 1:02.97.

 

 

Senior Christina Johnson (Elmont, N.Y.) nearly broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles (15.32).

O'Connor, senior Kristal Conklin (Middletown, N.Y.), senior Jillian Fauser (East Northport, N.Y.) and Noel won their 4x400 heat (4.05.96).
