Philadelphia, Pa. - Christina Melian of the Stony Brook women's track and field team qualified for the ECAC championships in the women's 3000-meter, while Annie Keown notched an ECAC-qualifying time in the 5000-meter on the first day of the 119th Penn Relays Thursday.

Melian finished seventh overall and first among freshmen in the women's 3000 college championship event in 9:37.59. In addition to qualifying for the ECACs, the time marked a new personal-best for the Seawolf-newcomer, who has been putting together a solid rookie campaign.

Keown, a senior, placed 22nd out of 31 starters in 17:10.12 as the prestigious meet.

The Seawolves will compete in two men's relays, a distance and sprint, on Friday, April 26.
