Albuquerque, N.M. – Senior Olivia Burne of the Stony Brook women’s track and field team clocked in at 4:46.94 and placed seventh in her heat in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday night on ESPN3.

“Olivia’s great season came to an end,” Stony Brook track and field head coach Andy Ronan said. “She did everything tactically right but just didn’t have that extra gear in the third leg of the race. There are a lot of positive things for her to take with her as she looks forward to the outdoor season.”

The trip to the NCAA Championships, which was the first for Burne in indoor track, capped a fantastic indoor season. The Palmerston, New Zealand native hit three ECAC qualifiers in the mile, including a personal-best 4:36.22 at the Boston University Last Chance Meet March 2.

Burne also tallied two ECAC-qualifying times in the 1000-meter and won the conference championship in the event.

She and the Seawolves look towards the outdoor track season, which begins at University Track March 29.
