Boston, Mass. – Members of the Stony Brook men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the ECAC/IC4A Championships hosted by Boston University this weekend.

Christina Melian highlighted the weekend for SBU, earning sixth in the women’s 3,000-meter on a time of 9:42.85, less than four-tenths of a second behind Dylan Hassett of William and Mary, who nabbed fifth in 9:42.41. The freshman edged Syracuse junior Shaylyn Tuite by two-hundredths of a second. Lorraine McCarthy also participated in the event, placing 11th in 9:46.09.

Seniors Kristal Conklin and Page Price teamed up with junior Olivia Burne and freshman Crystal Yeates to take ninth in the women’s distance medley relay with a time of 11:48.11. The squad finished more than one second ahead of 10th-place Quinnipiac, who completed the race in 11:49.62.

Juniors Sam Kimmey, Robert Taylor and James Snak and freshman Bradley Amazan clocked in at 10:13.18 to edge Wagner by less than a second for 15th in the distance medley relay preliminaries. Wagner’s squad took 16th with a time of 10:13.53. Stony Brook placed third in its heat, beating out Holy Cross by exactly two ticks. The top eight teams advanced to the finals.

Junior Annie Keown ran the women’s 5,000 in 18:00.20.

The Seawolves kick off their outdoor slate by hosting the Quad Meet, the first of two home meets of the spring season, March 27.
