#Seawolves hit ECAC/IC4A qualifiers on first day of America East Indoor Championships

New York – The women’s distance medley relay quartet consisting of Olivia Burne, Danielle Cornell, Kate Pouder and Elizabeth Caldwell hit an ECAC qualifier and placed third in 11:47.89 to highlight the first day of the America East Indoor Championships for the Stony Brook men’s and women’s track and field teams.
The time was the fastest by a Seawolves women’s DMR team this season by nearly 50 ticks. Pouder, Caldwell, Cornell and Robin Lynn posted a winning time of 12:38.32 at the Gotham Cup Jan. 10.
Chris Hand met the IC4A standard in the weight throw for the third time this season on a 17.33-meter heave. He finished sixth in the event.
Terry Martin earned his way into the men’s 60-meter hurdles final, which will be held Monday, with a fourth-place finish in 8.45 in Sunday’s preliminary. Matthew Granata will compete in Monday’s 500-meter final after running the preliminary race in 1:05.28 and securing seventh.
The Stony Brook men are currently sixth with 10 points, and the women are eighth with nine points.
Competition resumes Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Armory Track.
