Stephen Walsh enters his fourth season as the Assistant Coach for Stony Brook's men's and women's cross country and track & field programs.
In Walsh's first two seasons, the women's cross country team captured their second and third consecutive America East Championships and earned their second trip to the NCAA Championship in 2008 and the men's team, led by Tim Hodge's individual America East title, finished 2nd at the America East Championships in 2008 and 3rd in 2009.
The Seawolves also have continued their success on the track during Walsh's time at Stony Brook, most notably in Holly and Lucy van Dalen, who finished seventh and eighth in the 5,000m and 1,500m, respectively, at the 2010 NCAA Track & Field Championships, becoming the school's first All-Americans on the track.
A 2007 graduate of Boston College with a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy, Walsh also served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach at BC during the 2007-2008 season. In four years with the Eagles' cross country and track teams, he earned multiple All-New England, Big East, and ACC honors.
He recently completed a M.S. in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia University and is a USATF Level 2 Coach in the endurance events.
