The Stony Brook Dance Team can be seen dazzling fans on the sidelines with their elite technical level and outstanding enthusiasm for all things Seawolves. The focus of the dance team is to create the ultimate fan experience through innovative crowd involvement techniques and exciting performances in the styles of pom, jazz and hip hop.
In addition to performing at all home football and basketball games, members participate in numerous events on campus and in the community. The team attends Universal Dance Association (UDA) summer camp and recently attended UDA Nationals in Orlando, where they placed in the top ten among Division I teams.
Regular season practices are held three to four times per week and include technique classes and conditioning and strength training. On average, members can expect to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week to dance-team related activities.
Tryouts for the Competition/Performance Team are held in May and September. Our Club Team meets once a month beginning in September. Prospective members can contact the team at SBUdanceteam@gmail.com for more information.
