Seawolves Coming Off Best D-I Season Ever

The Stony Brook men's basketball team is coming off its best season ever as a Div. I program, winning 25 games, claiming its third America East regular season championship in four seasons and recording the program's first-ever Div. I national postseason win.

What will the team do for an encore?

With four returning starters, and arguably the most talented and athletic group of student-athletes the program has ever had, the #Seawolves, under ninth-year head coach Steve Pikiell, are looking to sustain the level of excellence that the program has developed over the course of the last five years while also chasing the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament bid.

Back are senior captains and starters Dave Coley, Anthony Jackson and Eric McAlister, who have developed tremendously over their first three years to become All-America East caliber players. They are joined by 2013 America East Rookie of the Year Jameel Warney, who is looking to make a huge leap in his sophomore season.

The hallmark of the #Seawolves program will continue to be defense. Stony Brook ranked sixth in the nation in field goal percentage defense last season, holding teams to 37.8 percent shooting. Over the course of the team's last 120 games played, 23 times Stony Brook has held its opponent under 50 points. Only three teams have managed to put 80 points on the #Seawolves in that same span.
