Stony Brook Athletics has teamed up with the Sunrise Fund to benefit the University Cancer Center. A donation of $2 will be added to all tickets for the Seawolves home opener. The Sunrise Fund at Stony Brook was established to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to raise funds for specific projects. Welcome Back Student Tailgate
Stony Brook students come to support your Seawolves at Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium for their first game of the 2011 season. Eat and play at a BBQ held for all students at the stadium along with Carnival Rides such as an Extreme Air Skydiving Simulator. Band Day
Long Island High School Bands will be invited out to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium for a day filled with events and performances showcasing musical talent, which includes the opportunity to play at halftime of the Seawolves football game. Homecoming - Wolfstock
Stony Brook University will host Wolfstock 2011 - A Homecoming Tradition as the Seawolves football team will battle Lafayette at LaValle Stadium. Wolfstock 2011 will include activities designed for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and their families, as well as for the extended Stony Brook family of community members, neighbors and civic organizations. This student programming event will be organized by the Spirit and Pride committee. At halftime the Stony Brook homecoming King and Queen Presentation will take place. Singer/songwriter, Angelina DelCarmen will perform the National Anthem.

Seawolves Showcase (Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m.)
Join the Seawolves Showcase event at the Staller Steps on Sept. 23 where there will be a DJ and performances by Stony Brook Cheerleaders, Dancers, and the Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band. There will also be performances by various registered clubs and organizations on campus.

Long Island High School Football Night
All Long Island High School football programs are coming to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to cheer on your Seawolves as they host Presbyterian! Any High School football program that submits their team roster to the Stony Brook Athletic Department prior to game day will receive FREE admission. Summer Camp Reunion Night
All kids from the 2011 summer camp are returning to Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium to cheer on the Seawolves as they take on Presbyterian. All participants will get discounted ticket rates. Call 631-632-4513 for questions.

Parent-Teacher Association
The PTA will come out with their school districts to Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium and cheer for the Seawolves. In order to support PTA programs, we will attempt to tie in student athletes with these programs, which would increase student athlete participation in schools and improve leadership programs. Scout Night
All Boys and Girls who are Scouts from across Long Island will be invited out to Stony Brook University's Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to cheer on the Seawolves. All scouts and families will receive discounted tickets if purchased prior to the game. All Scouts and Leaders in Full Class "A" Uniform will be able go on the field for the National Anthem. Discounted tickets can be purchased by going online at www.GoSeawolves.org. The scouts will also have the opportunity to get their fingerprints taken with the SCPD, as well as to get a Wolfie badge at the game by bringing a senior citizen with them.

Battle of the SBU Undergraduate Collages Field Day
The Undergraduate Student Colleges and Residence Life are putting together a major student program that will take place prior to the Seawolves Football game. 10th Annual Raymond M. Downey Heroes Classic
For this special event all firefighters, policemen, military, EMS and emergency services personnel with valid ID will receive FREE admission and their families and relatives can purchase a $4 ticket by going online, in advance until game day, at www.GoSeawolves.org; as Stony Brook honors the heroes in our community. On this day, the Seawolves will honor the memory of Deputy Chief Raymond Downey who lost his life in the line of duty during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. All fire departments in attendance are encouraged to display one piece of apparatus at the main entrance to LaValle Stadium. The Stony Brook Fire Department will hold a contest for all Fire Departments who attend this game. Contestant winners include:

  • the Department that displays the oldest apparatus at LaValle Stadium
  • the Department that travels the furthest to the game
  • the Department with the best display

Fire Department awards will be presented at halftime by the Stony Brook Fire Department. Contest rules and parking instructions will be forwarded to those wishing to participate. Please contact 631-632-WOLF for more information.

Communiversity Day

Stony Brook will be hosting Winterfest 2012 at Pritchard Gymnasium during the team's game vs. Boston University, which will be nationally televised on ESPNU. It's a RED-OUT of BU on Friday, and all students and fans will be counted on to wear their RED to the game. Students who come to the game are eligible to win $20,000, a 2012 Mercedes C-Class and free laundry for a semester! Students wishing to come to the game must pick up a bracelet at the January 25th game vs. Hartford to ensure entry to the RED-OUT.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day
Stony Brook University's Athletics Department will once again be hosting a National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, February 18. NGWSD is a day to honor the accomplishments of female athletes and to highlight the benefits of staying active. To help promote an active and healthy lifestyle, Stony Brook will be holding a Youth Sports Clinic, with registration beginning at 10:30 am and culminating with a women's basketball game against New Hampshire at 2:00 pm. Girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 13 are invited to participate in the Sports Clinic, which will be held in the Indoor Sports Complex and will feature current Stony Brook student-athletes from many different sports leading the clinic. Sneakers and play clothes are required and there is a $5 admission fee, which includes the clinic, a t-shirt, and a ticket to the women's basketball game for each clinic participant. Pre-registration is mandatory and the registration deadline is February 13th. Space will be limited so be sure to register early to reserve your spot. Play 4Kay Day (formerly known as Pink Zone)
The WBCA Pink Zone is being rebranded as Play 4Kay for February 2012. The mission of the initiative, which was brought to life in 2007, will remain intact: a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will continue to be the official charity of the initiative. Representatives from the Stony Brook University Cancer Center and the Play It Forward Foundation are invited to this game, so come support their missions to fight cancer and improve the social welfare needs of families and children. Stony Brook Women's Basketball will be a participant in Play 4Kay Day by giving away pink shirts to fans and wearing honorary pink shirts during warmups.
