Ted Eppenstein

Ted Eppenstein received his BA in History from SBU in 1968 and was a member of the Men's Basketball and Baseball teams. He was the Men's Basketball team MVP from 1965-68 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. In conjunction with Stony Brook's 40th Anniversary, Mr. Eppenstein was profiled as one of the University's finest 40 graduates in 1998. In 2007, the Hall of Fame was dedicated as the Rita & Kurt Eppenstein Athletics Hall of Fame in honor of Ted Eppenstein's parents. Mr. Eppenstein previously served as a member of the President's Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Stony Brook Seawolves. He is the recipient of the 1991 Distinguished Alumni Award and is a member MBA Advisory Board and the Wall Street Group. Eppenstein's wife, Madelaine, attended SBU for two years before transferring to Brooklyn College

On the court
Eppenstein was among the early basketball greats at Stony Brook, holding 14 school records when his playing career was finished including career scoring, points in a season and in a game. His name is still listed in the Stony Brook record books among the all time leaders in scoring average and was an All-Metropolitan honorable mention selection.
