Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University’s Department of Athletics and its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will once again be hosting a National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, February 9. NGWSD is a day to honor the accomplishments of female athletes and to highlight the benefits of staying active. To help promote an active and healthy lifestyle, Stony Brook will be holding a Youth Sports Clinic, with registration beginning at 1:30 PM and culminating with a women’s basketball game against Hartford at 4 p.m.
The Sports Clinic is open to any and all girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 13 and will feature current Stony Brook student-athletes from many different sports leading the activities. Registration on the day of the clinic will occur in the Pritchard Lobby of the Stony Brook Indoor Sports Complex. After registration, participants will be escorted to the Stony Brook Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium, the building adjacent to the Indoor Sports Complex, where the clinic will be held.
Representatives from the Summer Camps at Stony Brook will also be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the summer 2013 programs.
Sneakers and play clothes are required, and there is a $5 admission fee, which includes the clinic, a t-shirt, and a ticket to the women’s basketball game for each clinic participant. No refunds and/or discounts will be offered. Pre-registration is mandatory and the registration deadline is Wednesday, February 6. Space will be limited so be sure to register early to reserve your spot!
