Baseball beats Hartford to clinch playoff berth


Faced with a winner-take-all game on the road for the right to move on to the America East Championship, the Stony Brook baseball team, behind a fantastic effort from starting pitcher Brandon McNitt, rose to the occasion, taking advantage of seven Hartford errors and bashing 11 hits in a 10-3 victory over the Hawks Saturday at Fiondella Field. The Seawolves will play Maine Wednesday at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass., at 4 p.m.

Softball season comes to an end in NCAA Columbia Regional


The Stony Brook softball team had its 2013 season come to an end on Saturday with a 6-0 loss to Oregon State in the NCAA Columbia Regional. The America East champions finished an outstanding campaign with 35 wins.

Burne qualifies for women's track NCAA East Regionals


Junior Olivia Burne of the Stony Brook women's track team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships in the women's 1500-meter event. Competition is slated for May 23 and 25 at North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro, N.C.

Volleyball welcomes Cailyn Hart


Incoming freshman Cailyn Hart has joined the Stony Brook women's volleyball team for the 2013 season, head coach Coley Pawlikowski announced Friday. The 5'6 Hart will serve as a defensive specialist for the Seawolves.

Stony Brook Athletics held its annual Awards Ceremony - The Wolfies - Wednesday night at the Student Activities Center. Green named First-Team All-Mid Atlantic Region by NFCA


Sophomore Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook softball team has been named First-Team All-Mid Atlantic Region, as announced Thursday by the NFCA. Green and the Seawolves will square off against No. 6/8 Missouri on Friday in the Columbia Regional at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
